Shine Your Light
In March this year, Streets of Growth worked with street artist, ATMA, to support a group of female students who attend Central Foundation Girls' School in Bow to co-design a community mural for Usk Street, E2. The artwork hopes to inspire positivity and optimism in its’ viewers by bringing colour, life, and a touch of the natural environment to the estate. The project was turned into a short film by Paint The Change, a social action artist collective.
The project started with a creative workshop led by the artist in Central Foundation Girls' School. The artist then went away to work on the design listening to feedback from students and the community throughout. Once it was completed, the local community was invited to paint with the artist and the students at a community event.

The artwork was funded by Tower Hamlets Council ‘High Streets Team’ and commissioned with directional signs to encourage people to visit the high street on Roman Road as part of the Roman Road West improvement works. The project was part of Streets of Growth’s ‘Headstart’ programme funded by the Mayor of London and completed in partnership with Tower Hamlets Homes.
